#TOLT Rabbit Rabbit

And it’s officially October. Although I feel like the summer went by far too fast, I know the next few months are going to whiz by. So I’m linking up with Amanda today to tell you what I’m looking backing on and smiling, and what I am looking forward to this month.

Thinking-Out-Loud

September went by far too fast. Starting out the month with a long weekend is always enjoyable, but often times it leads for some longer than usual work weeks. Will got his surgery, and work picked up. Add in some high milage running weeks and we had one really tired Jamie. I took an unplanned hiatus from blogging to regroup, but I am so happy to be back. I signed up and was accepted to the Boston Marathon, I saw my friend Kathryn off before she headed to the West Coast, and went to a pretty amazing concert. All things considered, September was a pretty awesome month.

PS I’m obsessed with my standing desk.

Hello Ellie

And running wise, September was great. Humidity finally dissipated, and I was able to start enjoying those fall morning runs. I ran one race (read about it here), logged a bit over 220 miles with an average pace of 7’56”. I also took SIX complete rest days which is more than I have any other month this training cycle.

Struggle was real .

What am I looking forward to in October?

My last full month of marathon training. A little over two more weeks before I taper. I have been working hard this cycle and am really hoping that the stars align on race day.

Another long weekend –  thank you Christopher Columbus!

Running another half (first ever SoNo half marathon!) as a final tune-up before race day.

Celebrating my grandparents 65th wedding anniversary and Will’s first day at his new job (!!).

Moving. I have a lot of mixed emotions about this one, but we will see how it all goes.

Ranger games.

#TBT

And of course, not celebrating Halloween. Even though NYCM is in November, I have to tie it in with Halloween. I’ll be needing a good night sleep for that early morning ferry ride, so I will be hitting the hay early. Needless to say, the holiday should make for some interesting scenery the race day morning.

#TBT all the way to college. Peace. Love. Red Bull

Not to get ahead of myself, but I have a feeling that November and December will be gone before we know it and we’ll be ringing in the New Year together. And just as a fair warning, I love all things festive. Get ready.

What is your favorite holiday? Do you go all out dressing up/decorating?

What was your favorite part of September?

What are you looking forward to the most this month?

  1. I”m am not a big one for costumes. I’m cheap and lazy and I don’t like to chafe. Plus, I’m usually cold, so unless a jacket is part of said costume, it likely isn’t going to get much air time. That is so exciting that your grandparents have been together for 65 years!!! WOW

  2. I love all things festive/holiday too. My mom said to start making my Christmas list (aka best news ever). I’m most looking forward to next week…fall break! It’s only 2 days off but enough that I can go home.

  3. Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday, it’s the one my family hosts and I feel like it just kicks off the festive season! This year I’m starting with the Ridgefield Turkey Trot 🙂 But first I am running the Pamby Half Marathon this Sunday (fingers crossed it doesn’t rain out) and then two short races with NYRR at the end of October to finish up my 9+1 for next year’s NYCM. Lots of running this autumn.

I cannot believe your September mileage combined with the rest day count, that’s so awesome!

  4. I’m not usually huge on Halloween, but I have a half marathon that day so I’m trying to think of a way to dress up without it getting in the way of my performance. I laughed at the last picture… I think every last one of us sorority girls (north or south) wore that hippie costume at one point in college!

  5. I’m loving the prospect of the holidays coming up! In the UK we have Bonfire Night on November 5th and it’s my favourite night of the year- lots of firework displays and mulled wine 😀

I cannot believe how quickly this year is flying by, I keep thinking that 2015 has just begun!!

  6. I used to like Halloween but now that I have teenage boys, they freak me out. It’s non-stop bugging me about fireworks, and then I worry all night when they’re out there. Thanksgiving up here isn’t as huge of a deal as it is down there for you guys and in fact ours is in two weeks. It feels a little early. And then everyone starts decorating for Christmas and it’s not even November and I’m just like NO.

  7. Hi Jamie! I’m a Christmas girl all the way, and part of that is because my birthday falls two days before the holiday. I think it’s totally okay for you to have taken extra rest days, especially with your heavy training schedule. Keep it up, girl! 🙂

  8. I’m not really into Halloween but I love decorating our house for the seasons. I’m running the Chicago Marathon next week!!! Eek! Good luck with your goals!

  9. Cheers to all things festive! I definitely go all out decorating for the holidays. My favorite holiday is Christmas. Hands down. I’m extra excited about it this year now that we have Axel in our lives. I am looking forward to starting some new family traditions.

Obviously my favorite part of September was giving birth to my son (well, not the actual labor, but meeting him). 🙂

We are taking Axel to the pumpkin patch tomorrow and are trying to figure out what we should dress him up as for Halloween. There are so many cute newborn costumes. I bet you will be highly entertained the morning of your marathon!!

  10. September is my favorite month, but I like that we have the holidays to look forward to now. The holidays are the only reason I look forward to wintertime.
You had an exciting month and that’s so exciting about the marathon! That is going to be an event to remember.

  11. I’m not one for dressing up on Halloween, but I totally dress up Charlie – one year he was Yoda (and then he ate the costume), last year he was Dobby from Harry Potter, and this year he’s going to be a unicorn or a minion. Halloween is also one of the few times a year I eat candy and I hide all the peanut butter M&Ms before we give any out.
That’s so exciting your grandparents have been together for 65 years! Good luck to Will on his new job and you on moving!

  12. The first time I had a Red Bull was in college and I literally almost got up and started dancing on the conference room table in my English class. Me and that much caffeine do not mix hahaha! You should definitely wear that hippie costume to your race. Yes.

  13. Cute picture of you back in your college days on Halloween and I laughed at your caption. I really love Christmas and decorate around the house quite a bit. There is something about that time of year that just feels really joyful! My favorite part of September was the cooler temps and turning 30. I am looking forward to more fall running and activities in October!

  14. I love Halloween, especially now with the kids. We do a family themed costume. This year it’s all about the Star Wars! Congrats on getting into Boston! It was tough this year!!
