TOLT September Vibes

First things first. When I started this blog in April I didn’t think too many people would be reading it. And to be quite honest I didn’t know how long it would last. But I’m a little more than four months in and really enjoying having my own little corner of the internet. What caused this idea of reflection you may ask – well it was the fact that I am now over 100 subscribed followers. Really? 103 to be exact. Sometimes it’s hard for me to believe that that many people read this. My blog has turned into an incredibly positive space for me, and I’m so happy that some of you find what I have to say interesting. I know my parents don’t. Because neither of them read here. Fact. But I still love them anyways.

Feelin’ good

I also wanted to give Susie a shoutout. She has so kindly reached out to me and asked me to share some of my writings on ilovetorun. My first article went up Tuesday afternoon and I felt somewhat famous. Which meant I needed to share with the entire internet world.

Now, onto all the randomness that is in my brain. Thank you Amanda for letting me spew a bunch of randomness out onto the internets.

Thinking-Out-Loud

My boyfriend had some pretty intense shoulder surgery yesterday. Five hours, two screws and a bone graft later he is all put back together. I’m sure he feels a bit like a pin cushion, but I’m so happy that his shoulder is fixed and he’s on the way to recovery.
Colonoscopy is happening / happened this morning. Yesterdays fast wasn’t too horrible… until 4PM. Then I swear I had spidey senses and as soon as anyone took any form of food out of the kitchen at work, I could smell it. Needless to say I could barely fall asleep due to the grumbles in my stomach. Another reminder that I never, ever, exaggerate.

There’s really not picture I can post after that paragraph so…

Holy long weekend. I am so excited for an extra day off. I need this. I almost feel a bit horrible saying that because I really enjoy my job, but at the same time, I also really like not having to work. With BF in a sling, I’m looking forward to lots of naps, TV binges, movie marathons, and hopefully some time at the beach (me not him – since I don’t think sand in a sling would be all that great).

ACK

Is it weird that I’ve already started thinking about what to put on my Christmas list? No? Let’s hope not because I already started one. I feel like the older I get the more picky I get with items I want. Or maybe it’s that now I just realize how much I desperately need something so I need to make sure it’s on my list because forgetting about it would be an absolute travesty. Just when you thought talk of all things Fall was bad, here I am jumping ahead to winter.

Owls. Because that means Christmas.

September 14th is Boston 2016 registration. Say what? I feel like I JUST finished running this race. How in the world is it time to register again. I’m super excited and can’t wait to be back. Hopefully more sun, less wind. That would be nice.

Hi random stranger. Please come take a photo of me. Thanks. It’ll be on my blog someday.

Speaking of running, mid-distance mid-week runs are back. I ran my first double digit mid-week run Wednesday and I felt pretty good about it. I’m trying to increase weekly milage, decrease running days and increase cross-training days while still respecting that whole thing called “rest“. We’ll see how it goes.

And that’s pretty much all I have as of right now. It’s been a whirlwind week at work but my personal life seems to be calming down a bit. Although we celebrated last weekend, BFs and my official anniversary is actually this Sunday. I can’t believe how fast two years has gone by. Here’s to another.

Have a fabulous weekend everyone! xo

Anyone else registering for Boston 2016?

Fun plans for the long weekend?

When is it socially acceptable to start a Christmas list?

  1. The extra day off makes alll the difference! I am using it to get ahead with school work (or so the plan is). I hope the colonoscopy went well.
I’m starting a Christmas list year around. I tell my husband from time to time “write this down” or “this would be a good gift.” Somehow I don’t think he remembers, lol.

  2. I remember when you first started commenting on my blog and mentioned you had Crohn’s and I was like, well, I gotta check that out! You should be so happy and proud of this little place! And you are so welcome. I’m glad that you felt famous! YOU ARE. And I hadn’t even thought about Boston until someone brought it up and then I was like WELL GREAT Now THAT”S all I’m gonna think about!
Good luck this morning, hon. I hope all goes well.

  3. Congrats on the followers and the article! How exciting 🙂 Hope the BF recouping goes smoothly, I know shoulder surgery sucks and all the accommodations are hard- like sleeping upright. I WISH I was signing up for Boston Next year. Hopefully I’ll qualify after I pop out this baby and be back there in 2017- GAH that seems so far away…

  4. Over 100 followers since April?! That’s amazing congratulations! Wish I could say the same! And happy anniversary. Am I absolutely crazy for qualifying for Boston and not signing up this year? I BQ’d in December, but not with the time I really wanted so I feel like running it will be more meaningful after cutting of some of my marathon time. But I’d love to read more about when to book a hotel and how the registration process goes if you every feel like writing about it 🙂

  5. You’ve only been around since April and you are already this popular? Girl, you are killing it at this blogging thing! Congrats on 100+ followers!

I can’t believe it’s almost time for Boston registration. This is the first year that a lot of people I know are registering/running (while a lot of my blog friends have run it before, I wasn’t following any of them back in April) so I think it will be a little more exciting for me to actually watch registration unfold this year! I can’t imagine how excited all of you must be!

I also am in desperate need of a day off. We’ll be back home in Iowa visiting family, going to the city wide arts festival, and mom and I are running a 10K race. I use the term “race” loosely here, because it’s supposed to be 90 degrees with 78% humidity so I’m betting this will be one of the slowest 10Ks I’ve ever run.

    Happy THursday!

  7. Definitely thought you were blogging long before April! Congrats! I’m debating signing up for Boston this year but leaning toward no. I really wish I had more time to decide! I’m just feeling like I’m not up for coming off of NY and then training through the winter. But I’m torn! If I’m going to do it though, my heart has to be in it.

  8. AH ha ha ha! I love that you started your Christmas list already. Dork. It’s awesome. And you two lovebirds had surgery and a colonoscopy within a day of each other? NOT romantic. 😦 Happy Anniversary this weekend, though and hopefully your BF recovers as fast as possible from that surgery. Sounds like a big one (twss).

  9. Congrats on the followers..that is AWESOME! And it’s totally acceptable to have a Christmas list going. Heck, I have one going all year. I feel as you get older, you are used to buying things you NEED, and feel guilty when you buy something you want. Things I want go on the Christmas list, since I buy things I need constantly. I leave tomorrow for Charleston for the weekend and I can’t wait. Have a great Labor Day weekend!!

  11. Congrats on the awesome blog growth, girl! You definitely deserve it 😀 I wasn’t sure where blogging would take me either when I first started, but 3 years later and I’m doing it for a living, so you never know what it could lead to! Hope you have a wonderfully relaxing weekend, and that the boy feels better soon!

  12. Ahh wishing your boyfriend a quick recovery and that you eat ALL THE FOODS today!!! I just passed 1 year with the BF and it’s crazy. Sometimes I feel like we just started dating, and other times I feel like it’s been way longer. Time flies when you’re having fun, I guess. I’m ready for summer to start calming down so I have some more relaxing weekends with lots of netflix binges.

  13. Congrats on the article – headed over there to read it now! I hope your boyfriend has a quick recovery and you two have a great anniversary!
I’ve already started my Christmas list as well. As far as I’m concerned, it’s never to early, especially because I ask for the same boring things each year, like running shoes and Smartwool socks.

  14. Congrats on the article and the “following”!! That’s awesome stuff right there. I’m so glad I’ve been a part of your following as well 🙂 Hope all goes well with the colonoscopy and your bf’s recovery! And don’t feel bad about wanting a day off from work! I like my job too but we all love extra days where we can really do what we want. I just took a personal day this week to enjoy the beach before the mad rush this weekend! It was a blast!!

  15. Eek, colonoscopy. I’m so sorry. I bet you were SO ready to eat after it was over. It sounds like our weekends are going to be very similar… lots of down time, lounging, naps, football, and movies! Happy quick recovery to your boyfriend!

I am so pumped about registering for Boston. I’m hoping I do not go into labor late… can’t imagine registering for a marathon while giving birth. I’d make it happen, somehow!

Hmmm, I pretty much make a Christmas list year-round. 🙂

  16. Congrats on the following! Very exciting! I think you can and should start a Christmas list at any time. I always feel like as it gets closer, I can’t think of what I want, so it never hurts to start early! Hope your boyfriend is recovering well!

  17. I think it’s important to always have a running Christmas list in your mind. It makes it easier to come up with something when people ask (because everyone does right? 😉
One day I will register for Boston…one day…when I get over the fear of huge crowded races :-X
Have a great weekend! Congrats on the article!

  18. I totally start Christmas shopping early! Gotta get all the good sales;)
I bought a winter coat the other day so looks like our minds are skipping over fall for some reason? Even though I love fall!
I hope your boyfriend is feeling okay after his surgery! How did he injure himself?

  19. Hey Jamie! So glad I’ve stumbled upon your blog. Congrats on the followers and most importantly, that you have found you are really enjoying your blogging corner. I just started my own blog actually, and although it is in its beginning phases, I think I am really enjoying the process and taking a lot from it. I’m wondering, do you have any tips/advice on how to build followers when you are just somewhat beginning?? I see you also have a wordpress.com site… so I see that it is possible to be seen!
Hope you enjoyed your weekend! Looking forward to reading more from you!

  20. I wish I was running Boston…maybe someday. I really need to hit my sub 4 hour goal and then maybe I can start working on it. I will get into a new age group next year too, so I may wait for the extra 5 minutes 🙂
