I have spent a lot of time out on Nantucket this month and I am absolutely loving some of the new(ish) restaurants I’ve gotten to try. And by restaurants I mean organic/local/juice bars. So today, not only will I give you a little insider info, I will also tell you all about my tasty eats from yesterday. As always, thanks Jenn for hosting!
Nativ Made: You may have seen me post this Instagram back when I was in Nantucket in July, but it still remained a staple during my August trip. When making a quick trip up without my parents, we don’t keep a Vitamix in the house, so I end up going out to get most my acai bowls and smoothies instead of making them at home.
While I’ll never complain about an acai bowl, it’s not my favorite on island. They use the same sambazon acai packs that I do, but they blend the base and keep frozen. So when you order, they just add toppings. Call me high maintenance, but I want my bowls fresh.
The Green: I think this is my favorite place on island. Although they don’t offer acai bowls (TRUST I’ve recommended), their smoothies are USUALLY on point. They also have other options like salads and wraps (to-go or made to order) which are on point – get the breakfast veggie burrito, you won’t be sorry.
I’m a bad blogger and did not take a picture of my spinach soba noodle salad, but it was incredible. Highly recommend.
Lemon Press: My new fave. Not only does this place have delicious smoothies, they make INCREDIBLE acai bowls. Now this is what I’m talking about. They also have a lot of options for toppings. Including my first experience with bee pollen like I discussed on Monday.
The menu was pretty extensive, avocado toast/salads/pre-made sandwiches, and they even had ice cream and frozen yogurt. Clearly this place is the bee’s knees.
Casa de Whittendale: Now in order to ATTEMPT at saving myself some money in Nantucket, I convinced my mom to bring her Vitamix. And she did. She even brought my favorite protein powder (Vega). It’s the little things. One of my favorite things about my mom is the plethora of fresh fruit she buys. She knows I’m absolute fiend for all things farmers market (Bartlett’s Farm) and stocked up for the weekend.
I ended up making a pretty delicious smoothie if I do say so myself – Vega protein, 1/2 frozen banana, almond milk, almond butter, ice, and water. Simple and easy – but totally delicious. I topped with some fresh strawberries, raspberries, and blueberries and enjoyed myself a very satisfying breakfast.
Pi Pizzeria: Now you would have to be crazy if you thought I only lived on acai bowls and smoothies in Nantucket. While that is a high possibility, it’s not true. One of my favorite meals out was to Pi Pizzeria. I never understood my parents obsession until BF and I went in July. YUMMY. Although the crust is a little thick for my liking (I’m more of a thin/flat crust girl), the pizza is incredible.
Because I’m high maintenance I had a “Make Your Own” – small pizza with homemade marinara sauce, arugula, broccoli, and green pepper. My personal version of a salad pizza. While there was ample arugula, they could have used a bit more of the other veggies. Never less, amazing post long run fuel 🙂
And now, onto my own, regular, boring, daily eats of food.
August 26th, 2015:
Breakfast: 8:15AM
– Green Smoothie: Vega protein, spinach, almond butter, almond milk, 1 frozen banana, ice, water.
– 1 medium green apple, 1tbs honey, cinnamon – not pictured because I forgot #Honesty
Lunch: 12:15PM
– 2 cups shredded cabbage, lettuce, carrots with balsamic
– 1 green bell pepper
– 1 cup watermelon
Snack: 2:00PM
– 1 packet Quaker steel-cut oatmeal
– 1 single serve packet of Barney Butter (almond butter and espresso) – truly the best invention ever. Mainly because I would have eaten the entire jar in one sitting. So being able to pack a single serving is super helpful to avoid eating 1400 calories of nut butter.
Dinner: 6:30PM (because I like to watch Jeopardy and color at 7PM – #FunFact)
I’ve been keeping dinner pretty simple these past few nights. Although I was initially planning on having a smoothie, I opted for some egg whites, Ezekial wrap, and Diaya swiss cheese. (melted OBVS) Can’t go wrong. Threw in a few snap peas and butternut squash to get some more veggies in my day.
And those were my exciting meals for Tuesday. I’m hoping to get some good meals later this week which should ultimately lead to some good recipes/blog posts. But again, let’s see how the work week goes : )
What’s your favorite meal of the day? Definitely breakfast… which is why I probably eat breakfast for dinner more often than not.
Is there one food you could eat endlessly? 100% nut butter
I love Nantucket!

I’m with you on the nut butter. I have a love-hate relationship with those squeeze packets because, while they keep me from eating the entire jar, I always want more! I NEED all of your amazing ACK eats.

You always make the greatest simple smoothies. A farmers market stocked fridge also sounds like heaven!

Your smoothies always looks so delicious! And your food looks much more interesting than mine has the past few days with having a stomach bug. I would have to say breakfast or dinner are my favorite meals of the day! I like them for different reasons. And having leftovers for lunch, even better!

I don’t think I ever make lunch… it’s ALWAYS left overs 🙂

I think that Nantucket might be one of my spirit animals. I need to investigate this.

Your smoothies look so fresh and delicious. Vega is the only protein powder I ever use as well!!
My favourite meal of the day is definitely breakfast. I love all things breakfast and could have it for all three meals easily!
I could probably just live off of nut butters as well – any kind, I’m not picky:)

Breakfast is my absolute favorite because eggs, pancakes, oats, berries, yogurt (and maybe ice cream, who’s asking?)
Definitely going to hit the Lemon Press on my next trip to ACK. All my favorite staples down the Cape are ice cream shops haha.

Damn you’re a healthy eater. You inspire me, actually! I’m getting healthier bit by bit just reading everybody’s blogs (green smoothies, salads, etc). I’ve never tried an acai bowl! It’s on my to-do list.

Highly recommend! I could clearly live on them 🙂

I love, love, love those individual packets of Barney Butter, Jamie!! I order them from Amazon and keep some in my desk drawer at work…and some at home because, in a pinch, I’ve been known to suck one of those down all by itself – ha! So delicious!

I am HORRIBLE with eating nut butters our of the jar. i kind of wish there was a key code on them that only allows you to open it twice a day and makes a really loud ringing noise if it’s open more than 1 min, haha.

I can’t believe there are so many places just on Nantucket for acai bowls! I feel like I have to search for them in San Francisco, and this place is like juice galore.

I like brunch! (Basically so I can eat a huge breakfast haha) One food I could not live without would be bananas! I eat them with every meal 🙂
