Guys. This is my fourth week of What I Ate Wednesday! I feel like that’s quite an accomplishment seeing I usually go through each day not even realizing what is on my fork….
Thanks for the LinkUp Jenn!
So since I feel like all I did this past weekend was eat or drink, I think the only appropriate way to recap all these delicious treats is through one delicious looking blog post.
Although the first thing I ate on island was a mint chip ice cream with rainbow sprinkles jimmies, I was far too hungry, excited, overjoyed, to document with a photo. And it was 10 o’clock at night. So believe me when I say it was the most gorgeous looking ice cream you ever did see. The Juice Bar is unlike any other.
The Green: I honestly cannot get enough of this place. I think that because this was the first health food/granola loving restaurant on island, I became a diehard fan. It is SEVERELY overpriced, but it is so delicious, fresh, and totally made to order, that I can’t complain.
I came here both Saturday and Sunday morning after my run for my go-to smoothie: blueberries, banana, almond milk, whey protein.
Saturday morning afternoon, BF and I stopped by after our long run. I think we finished running around 1030, so by the time we got out here, we decided this would be more of breakfast and lunch. How you say, brunch. Instead of sticking with just a smoothie (go with what you know people), we both opted to get a breakfast burrito too in attempt to avoid the hanger! #LivingOnTheWildSide
I am obviously beyond particular when it comes to eating so nothing upsets me more than an overstuffed, super greasy, breakfast wrap. While I tried to pull a fast one on the staff and make my own wrap, I was told I could modify, not create. #NoFun
I got their breakfast burrito no cheese, no sour cream, no rice, no tomatoes, no olives. So basically I had eggs, salsa, black beans, and pico in a wheat wrap. Only downside – no egg whites?!? Is that so much to ask!? Regardless the burrito was AH-MAZE-ING. BF got the actual breakfast burrito and loved it too.
It wasn’t greasy, eggs were pretty light and fluffy, and it had some serious staying power. #HangerAvoided
So let me preface this with the fact I’ve only been to the brewery before during the off season. Never at Figawi. Having said that, holy sh!t.
The brewery is actually a super cool place. Not only does it have a brewery on site, it also has a distillery (Triple Eight) and a winery (Nantucket Vineyard). BF’s family and I actually went on a tour last summer (eh it was okay), but it’s a really fun place that offers a TON of outdoor seating, live music, and food trucks.
When we got to the brewery (around 12) the line to get in was out the driveway, wrapping down the main road. I figured it was just backed up due to mass entry, but soon realized the brewery was at capacity. One in for one out. It opened at 11… #IsThis College?
We got in a little after 1, and headed straight into another line to get some beers. We thought we were totally outsmarting everyone by ordering 6 beers and a 12 pack. Ingenious. It was not. We were told we can’t open the 12 pack on brewery grounds so that was an epic fail, but hey at least we had beers for later?
Cisco makes my favorite beer – Grey Lady. While I’m not a big beer drinker (vodka sodas hayyyy), it is light enough that I can drink and get a little bit of a buzz on before I feel totally full.
We spent the entire day outside, crushing sipping our brews, convincing other people to go wait in line for us (love you friends!), and enjoying the live music.
If you are going to the brewery over a holiday weekend beware it will be packed. You honestly don’t notice until you try to get more booze or go to the bathroom. It’s really the lines that make you realize how busy the place is.
I did not partake in food truck eating, however I hear the oysters and raw bar are to die for (literally, I’m allergic to shellfish so I’d die), and Millie’s (another ACK favorite of mine) are delicious for the mid-day munchies.
LOLA Burger: On the recommendation of my mother, BF and I hit up this burger joint for dinner Saturday. Anticipating a huge wait we headed out around 7 but were pretty surprised when we got seats right away at the bar. It’s a really laid back restaurant that offers take out as well. Sister restaurant to Lo/La 41 (sushi) on island.
Although my usual go-to is a veggie burger, I had no such option at LOLA. I ended up going with the Tuna Burger with Wasabi Mayo, Sunomono, and Soy Ginger Sauce on the side. Because my stomach is so sensitive I usually get all the condiments on the side. I didn’t add any to my burger which was a.ok with me since it was perfectly seasoned and grilled.
Um yeah. I don’t really know what else to say about it. I just don’t have words. It was incredible. Perfect sized portions. And it was on an English Muffin instead of a bun. Love that.
BF had the Lamb Burger with Creamy Feta, Harissa & Arugula based on the bartenders suggestion. He was not disappointed. His truffle friends and my regular fries were devoured.
I will say, it was pretty pricey, but then again it is a gourmet burger. And it’s Nantucket. So there’s that.
Something Natural: My family has been coming here for as long as I can remember. We would always call in our order and pick them up on the way to the beach in the summer. #Sentimental
Best sandwiches on island. By far.
I love that they also offer you the option of having a full or half sandwich. I got a half, which as you can tell, is still pretty massive. I got the Sprouts, Vegetables & Hummus half sandwich on 6 grain.
I have to come here at least once, every time I’m on island. I feel like this place gets me.
Oath Pizza: This is new to me. I’d be lying if I said I was looking for pizza. In actuality, I was looking for Juice Guys (RIP).
BF and I were a bit early for our ferry, so we decided to drop our bags and just wander down by the wharf. We weren’t sure if we should eat before the ferry, we weren’t really that hungry, but again, in hopes to avoid hanger during a car ride home, we decided why not split a pizza and salad. #TwistMyArm
The concept behind Oath is pretty interesting. It’s like an assembly line for pizza. A pizza subway if you will. They take out a crust, and go down the line where you can add whatever toppings you desire. They do have specialty pizzas that you can order but hi, I don’t know if we’ve met, but I’m picky – so I made my our own.
Topped with sauce, shredded mozzarella, peppers, onions, spinach, olives. It was good! Glad we split the pie, because I probably could’ve eaten a whole one. I don’t know what portion control is.
While it was tasty, it was pretty generic. I prefer my own homemade dough #Diva
And again I couldn’t refrain and made another trip to The Juice Bar. And guess what. I didn’t take a picture. Because I was too hungry, and it’s just that good. You guessed it – mint chip with jimmies : )
And that leads us up to Monday night where BF and I crafted our own pizzas. Meat for him. Veggies for her.
What is your go-to smoothie?
What was the best thing you ate this past weekend?
Jimmies or Sprinkles? BF calls them sprinkles, but I’m a firm believer that only chocolate are sprinkles, where rainbow are jimmies…
Do you go all out on vacation or try to maintain a regular diet? I like to think I do both, but I’m definitely more likely to indulge on vacation. And I mean… look at that food…
Looks awesome, and I love lamb burgers so that dish stuck out to me! I learned that sprinkles were also called jimmies when i scooped ice cream in high school, it still makes me laugh 🙂 I indulge more on vacation but still try to keep my stomach happy, so the indulgences are more dairy/cheese and I stay GF.

My boyfriend said it was absolutely amazing!!! I tend to eat a lot of different food when I’m on vacation which isn’t hard since I’m a creature of habit, but I do try to limit the dairy and cheese for the same reasons : ) Hope you have a great day!

Everything looks delicious! Especially that pizza…yum!
Ive always called them sprinkles, but I remember in college my roommate was from Philly and called them Jimmies and I was so confused!

Haha yes it’s a big debate … My boyfriend had zero idea what I was talking about initially. It was a great weekend of food that’s for sure! Hope you have a great day! : )

I’ve heard about the jimmies/sprinkles debate but never knew sprinkles were chocolate-only! #themoreyouknow
I’ve always called them sprinkles, no matter the color.
Totally with you on breweries/beer fests. They always look so spread out and open UNTIL YOU HAVE TO PEE OR GET MORE TO DRINK… Kind of like marathon porta-potty waits. Minus the beer at the end of the line.
HAPPY WEDNESDAY!

I’m actually the opposite of you with the sprinkles/jimmies dilemma…I always called chocolate jimmies! That’s a big topic of debate in Pittsburgh, and I didn’t know other people also called them jimmies..interesting.
Everything looks so good and that brewery sounds awesome! That doesn’t make any sense that you can’t open a six pack (of their beer) on their grounds? Weird! I’ve never even heard of that brand so I’ll have to check it out:)

Oh dear.. is everything I know as truth a lie!? Haha. Yes definitely check it out! They have some great IPAs… I’m not much of a beer snob but I hear they have some great stuff! Happy Wednesday!!!

Thanks. Now I’m starving. LOL. I especially want that tuna burger…that thing looked ridiculous! I have a similar go to smoothie but usually it’s whatever fruit I threw in the freezer – so that part changes from week to week!

Looove vacation food. I definitely go all out on vacation because I think one of the best parts of traveling is eating new foods and things you wouldn’t have at home. I have never heard of the term jimmies for sprinkles? I like it though! haha

I feel like jimmies is so 1960s… totally making up that time frame, but definitely a vintage term! Haha Happy Wednesday!

I need that pizza knife!!! Seriously. Also, that smoothie color is gorgeous! And I’m with you–wraps are a very slippery slope for me–I like to dissect my food and wraps/burritos make that very hard. So does sushi. The rolls I had last night were a bit of an exception but they were bang on!

I just had lunch and after reading this post, I almost feel like I’m hungry again. That vegetable sandwich looks SO good! I’m always happy when I can find a really good one because so many are boring and unflavorful. That one, on the other hand, looks delicious!

Yes. It’s amazing. I always forget to add hummus to my sandwiches… makes them so tasty!

Your food looks all so delish. I think I shall eat now. lol I love chocolate cherry smoothies with greens!! I don’t really eat ice cream with anything on top except cherries. Do you notice a cherry theme here?! lol That pizza “subway” sounds perfect. Pizza is my all time fav indulgence dish…well next to a good bacon cheeseburger. I try to keep things in check while on vacation but I def splurge!!

That smoothie sounds (and looks) delicious. Totally not healthy, but I made a PB oatmeal + banana smoothie one at home a while back and LOVED it. I’ve made it another time since then, but try to resist, since I tend to drink more than I should in a sitting whenever I make it 🙂
You’re photos look like they are straight out of a magazine! I’ll take that burger, and both of those pizzas. Seriously though, a subway line-style pizza place sounds amazing. I’d be tempted to eat more pizza if there was a place like that where I lived.
Vacation is definitely the time to indulge. Gotta try the restaurants that you can’t find anywhere else! Good thing I don’t travel all that often 😉

Love that pizza knife! I have the same one- it was a souvenir from Paris! My husband couldn’t believe I chose that in France, but I love it!

Haha that’s too funny! My mom got it for me when my boyfriend and I started making our own pizzas! It’s the only one I’ll use now haha

My go-to smoothie is banana, spinach, peanut butter, vanilla almond milk and vanilla protein powder. It’s just a great basic, filling drink. I call them sprinkles (sorry) and will only eat rainbow. I would say I eat local foods on vacation so whatever that means is what I get. I don’t like eating too much rich fare because it starts to make you sick by day two of the vacation and who wants that? A good balance of indulgences and healthier food is what I attempt #SometimesIFail

And now my stomach is growling… the gourmet burger place sounds amazing but it’s too bad they didn’t have a veggie burger! Also the brewery sounds like a blast!
